We provide a range of psychiatric and neuropsychiatric services tailored to your needs. Our highest priority is to provide effective treatment in a way that is convenient and well-timed.

CLINICAL CONSULTATION

A clinical consultation is a thorough review of your symptoms and concerns; medical, neurologic, and psychiatric history; previous treatments; and goals of treatment. In addition to an interview, a consultation includes neurologic, psychiatric, and/or neuropsychiatric assessments, as indicated. Our goal is to then provide an opinion on your diagnosis and make recommendations for treatment. In some cases, a second consult visit may be necessary.

A consult may be the beginning of ongoing treatment with Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology or may be a one-time service to augment care being provided by another clinician.

FOLLOW-UP VISITS

Following a consult, ongoing care may be provided by the referring clinician or another member of a patient’s treatment team. Alternatively, ongoing care can be provided by Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology if the consult results support this. Appointment frequency and duration will be determined on a unique schedule based on patient need. The ideal duration of an appointment is determined by the time needed to fully address the concerns of the patient and others involved in his or her care. The appointment experience should be one in which you feel the time is used efficiently and productively, and that there is sufficient time for your concerns to be addressed without feeling rushed.

HOME VISITS

For patients with significant mobility restrictions, limited transportation resources, or other demonstrated difficulty accessing care, Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology offers house calls to your home, rehabilitation center, or living facility. These are offered on a limited, case-by-case basis. Home visits cost the same as an office visit with an associated fee for travel time.

INDEPENDENT PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATIONS

Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology offers independent psychiatric evaluations to help employers ensure safety in the workplace and to facilitate employees receiving psychiatric recommendations. Our independent psychiatric evaluations are done in a timely manner that seeks to limit the disruption to both employer and employee.

FORENSIC CONSULTS

Questions regarding mental health and brain fitness frequently arise in medical legal cases yet securing professional resources in these areas can be difficult. Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology is available to provide expert assistance and guidance to attorneys with psychiatric and neuropsychiatric legal cases.

EXCELLENCE IN CARE

Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology is committed to providing patient-centered care. The length of our appointments and the frequency with which we meet is determined by clinical need and patient preference. Because we do not participate as an in-network provider in any insurance plan, Portland Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology is more able to structure our practice to best fit patient needs.

FINANCIAL POLICIES

Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept most forms of payment, including health savings cards. If your health insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, you will likely be able to receive reimbursement for a portion of your costs of treatment with us, and we can provide a receipt with the information needed to do so. Medicare does not offer out-of-network benefits and, therefore, will not provide reimbursement.
